Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2010 im Fachbereich Medien / Kommunikation - Theorien, Modelle, Begriffe, Note: 1,0, Universität Salzburg, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: „Qualität und Quote, und zwar in dieser Reihenfolge!“ – So lautete das Zitat der beiden Chefredakteure der Tiroler Tageszeitung (TT), Alois Vahrner und Mario Zenhäusern in der Ausgabe vom 11. März 2010. Ausgangspunkt für diese Wortspende der Chefredaktion war eine österreichweite Leseranalyse im Jahr 2009 unter Entscheidungsträgern, die der Tiroler Tageszeitung, so schreibt sie auch selbst in einem kurzen Aufreißer auf der Titelseite, einen historischen Höchstwert einbrachte. „80 Prozent der Entscheider lesen TT“ – dieser Artikel auf Seite 12 erstreckt sich als einziger der gesamten Ausgabe auf eine gesamte Seite.
Nun lässt diese Berichterstattung und Eigenwerbung des Mediums eine Schlussfolgerung zu: Die Tiroler Tageszeitung zählt sich selbst zu den Qualitätszeitungen und definiert sich auch als solche. Diese Aussage ist ambivalent, zumal die Tiroler Tageszeitung, forciert durch den Eigentümer Moser Holding, in den letzten Jahren verstärkt dem Druck der „Kronen Zeitung“ am Tageszeitungsmarkt ausgesetzt war und noch heute ist. Die kurzlebige „Neue“ der Moser Holding als Konkurrenzprodukt zur „Krone“ verschwand schon wieder vom Markt, dafür erschien eine abgespeckte Version der Tiroler Tageszeitung als Konkurrenzprodukt und die Zeitung selbst plötzlich sieben Tage die Woche. Geht die Tiroler Tageszeitung also doch in Richtung Boulevard? Diese Frage – Qualität oder Boulevard – gilt es in dieser Arbeit zu klären. Damit drängt sich unweigerlich eine Frage auf – wie kann man dies empirisch überprüfen?
