Multilokale Lebensweisen ermöglichen den jeweiligen Akteuren an unterschiedlichen Standorten aktiv zu leben und zu wirken. Dieses Phänomen, welches sich innerhalb der westlichen Gesellschaften immer mehr zu manifestieren scheint, soll Mittelpunkt dieser wissenschaftlichen Arbeit sein.
Es wird im weiteren Verlauf der Anspruch erhoben, den Begriff der Multilokalität zunächst einmal zu definieren, ihre Formen, Ausprägungen und den historischen Ursprung vorzustellen, die Zusammenhänge zu Migration und Mobilität zu untersuchen und abschließend zukünftige Theorien und Forschungsfragen aufzustellen.
