Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2004 im Fachbereich Pädagogik - Heilpädagogik, Sonderpädagogik, , Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In vielen Bereichen unserer und anderer Gesellschaften, werden behinderte Menschen als Träger von Defiziten wahrgenommen. So ist es auch in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland erlaubt ein Kind, dessen Behinderung pränatal diagnostiziert wurde, zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt abzutreiben, als das bei einem zu erwartenden gesunden Kind erlaubt ist. Aus dieser Geringschätzung resultiert vermutlich auch, dass eine qualifizierte Behindertenpädagogik lange Zeit in ihrer Qualität und Quantität im Sinne der Bedarfsabdeckung hinter der Pädagogik für nicht-behinderte Kinder zurückblieb. Selten war sie zudem integrativ, sondern behandelte behinderte Menschen als gesonderte Subgruppe in einer leistungsorientierten Gesellschaft. Weder das Entwicklungspotential behinderter Menschen, noch deren Fähigkeiten und Talente konnten so individuelle Wertschätzung erfahren- sie wurden in den seltensten Fällen entdeckt. Vor diesem Hintergrund erstaunt und bewegt es ganz besonders, wie selbstverständlich behinderte Menschen in Montessori-Einrichtungen angenommen werden und ihnen ein Platz geboten wird, an dem sie, ausgehend von ihrem Sein, werden können, was in ihnen angelegt ist. So werden behinderte Menschen aus ihrer Isolation befreit und als das anerkannt, was sie sind und schon immer waren. Als wertvolle Mitglieder der Gemeinschaft, die aus sich heraus vieles in diese hinein tragen können. Wie ein solcher Schritt gelungen ist und welche Vorteile der Montessori-Pädagogik, gerade im Bezug auf die Integration von Behinderten hin, innewohnen soll Inhalt dieser Ausarbeitung sein. Dazu möchte ich zunächst Maria Montessori und ihre Pädagogik in den Grundzügen vorstellen und dann deren Anwendung in der Behindertenarbeit aufzeigen.
