Caritas, Amnesty International) widerspräche der marktwirtschaftlichen Realität zunehmend größer werdender globaler Konzerne, die vor allem ihre Eigenkapitalrendite im Auge behalten.
Gilt es z. B. nicht allgemein als sehr fraglich, wenn Unternehmen ihre Produktionsstätten in Niedriglohnländer verlagern, nur um die Eigenkapitalrendite zu verbessern. Oder die Spekulationen an der Börse: Anteile an Unternehmen zu kaufen, um kurzfristig hohe Gewinne einzustreichen? Und auf der anderen Seite z. B. die südamerikanische Juristin, die sich aus christlicher Berufung motiviert für Minderheiten einsetzte, vom Staat verfolgt und schliesslich ermordet wurde? Ethisch korrekt oder die Überbleibsel längst veralteter Moralvorstellungen?
Auf der einen Seite die fürsorglichen-sozialverantwortlichen Christus-Nachfolger und auf der anderen Seite die egoistischen Nutzen- und Gewinnmaximierer einer global freien Marktwirtschaft? Sieht so unsere heutige Wirklichkeit aus?
Diese und andere Fragestellungen sollen im folgenden anhand der geschichtlichen Herleitung der kath. Soziallehre, der div. Enzykliken, der wirtschaftlichen Rahmenbedingungen, der Veränderungen in Staat, Gesellschaft und der Technik geklärt werden.
