Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich Medien / Kommunikation - Public Relations, Werbung, Marketing, Social Media, Note: 1,3, Universität Konstanz, 18 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der Mode-Katalog von Diesel zeigt sich aufgrund seiner Gestaltung nicht nur den postmodernen Kommunikationsbedingungen gewachsen, sondern integriert einen zentralen Punkt der postmodernen Theoriebildung, nämlich Baudrillards Simulationstheorie. Dies geschieht dadurch, dass die Mode in einer simulierten Welt nach der Klimakatastrophe präsentiert wird. Legt nun dieses Zusammenfallen eine besondere Verbindung zwischen Postmoderne und Mode nahe oder stellt Diesel mit seinem Katalog eine Ausnahme dar? Ersteres scheint der Fall zu sein, denn sonst würde Gail Faurschou nicht bereits 1988 feststellen, dass Mode zu der „commodity ‚par exellence’“ der Postmoderne geworden ist; sonst würde Baudrillard der Mode kein ganzes Kapitel in „Der symbolische Tausch und der Tod widmen“ , um die spezifischen Bedingungen des Modediskurses als Merkmal der eigenen Zeit zu exponieren. Die strukturelle Affinität zwischen Postmoderne und Mode widerlegt somit die Annahme, dass Diesel in seinem Katalog rein zufällig die Simulation als gestalterisches Prinzip einbinden könnte. Wenn also diese direkte Verbindung zwischen Mode und Postmoderne existiert, so ließe sich nun hier im konkreten Fall fragen, inwiefern es Überschneidungen und Analogien zwischen Baudrillards Simulationstheorie und dem „World’s coolest Hotspots Guide“ gibt. Welche Theoreme der Simulation finden sich also in einem unter postmodernen Vorzeichen konzipierten Modekatalog des Jahres 2007 wieder? Um dies herauszufinden, stelle ich zuerst die Grundzüge der Simulationstheorie vor, um sie daraufhin mit dem Diesel-Katalog abzugleichen. Dabei soll jedoch nicht die Frage aufgeworfen werden, ob der Katalog die Theorie ausschließlich illustriert oder veranschaulicht, was von einer Medienvergessenheit zeugen würde, sondern welchen werberelevanten Mehrwert Diesel durch das simulatorische Gestaltungsprinzip des Katalogs erzielen kann. Ein solcher Versuch kommt einer exemplarischen Auswertung einer postmodernen Kommunikationsstrategie der Werbung gleich, die ebenfalls darüber Auskunft gibt, wie heute über Mode gesprochen werden kann bzw. muss.
