So beschreibt der 13jährige Keith seine Artikulationsschwierigkeiten, denen eine verbale Entwicklungsdyspraxie zugrunde gelegt wird. Der Begriff der „Developmental Articulatory Dyspraxia", zu deutsch „verbale Entwicklungsdyspraxie", wird seit den 50er Jahren verwendet. Ein Fall von verbaler Entwicklungsdyspraxie wird in der Literatur sogar schon 1891 geschildert.

Die verbale Entwicklungsdyspraxie äußert sich als ein Problem auf der Ebene der Sprechbewegungsplanung bzw. -programmierung. Sie zeigt sich in dem Unvermögen, die Artikulationsorgane für geplante Äußerungen willkürlich und kontrolliert in korrekter räumlicher und zeitlicher Beziehung zueinander einzusetzen. Die Produktion isolierter Laute verläuft meist störungsfrei. Allgemein weist die Sprachproduktion manchmal „Inseln" auf, Phasen in denen das Sprechen ungestört verläuft.

In meiner Arbeit werde ich den Begriff und das Störungsbild der verbalen Entwicklungsdyspraxie näher beleuchten. Ich werde versuchen einen „roten Faden" durch dieses umstrittene, unklar umrissene Thema zu ziehen. Mein Hauptaugenmerk werde ich dem Bereich der Diagnostik widmen, dem, meiner Meinung nach, bisher zu wenig Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt wurde.
